retention head

Hi all
A little issue with the oil build up in the old retention head has forced my hand ,so I've made a new one with out the caption area of the old one .Made from 310 stainless .

Old Retention head has holes in that let the oil go outside of firebox ,there is a small hole underneath which i have opened up but it still makes up and blocks ,also new head has a more aggressive swirl.

Metering pump

Ok so here we are using a metering pump for the oil .The pump is off a conventional oil burner running a lot slower maybe 50 rpm ,the motor is a 200w kids scooter motor dc .
Speed controller is a homebrew PWM based around a 555 timer circuit with a mosfet final .
After using the syfphon set up last year this set up blows it out the water ,start up is instant,no waiting for the venturi effect to bring the oil into play .

Of course its early days going to have to see how the winter goes and see if its reliable .This year i got the wood burner all ready for back up .I really dont want a year like last ,in between heat sources that sure did suck.All my spare time was installing the new system and not cutting wood .....yep it wasn't a comfy winter last season .
